What to Expect on Your First Visit
Your first appointment at Balance Foot & Ankle typically takes 45 to 60 minutes. Dr. Biernacki, Dr. Jay, or Dr. Gutkin will review your symptoms and medical history, perform a thorough foot and ankle exam, take imaging if needed, and walk you through a personalized treatment plan in plain English. Most patients leave their first visit with a clear diagnosis and a starting treatment, not a follow-up appointment for results.
We accept most major insurance plans including Medicare, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, United Healthcare, Aetna, Cigna, HAP, Priority Health, Humana, McLaren, Molina, and Meridian. See full insurance and cost details or call us to verify your specific plan before your visit.

Frequently Asked Questions
How quickly can I be seen?
Most new patients are seen within the same week they call. We hold same-day slots for urgent issues such as suspected fractures, severe pain, or acute infections. Call (810) 206-1402 and our staff will offer you the next available appointment at the office closest to you.
Do you accept walk-ins?
Yes, both offices accept walk-ins for urgent foot or ankle issues. Calling ahead minimizes your wait. For non-urgent matters, scheduled appointments are preferred to ensure you receive the doctor’s full attention.
Which office should I choose?
Choose the office that is most convenient for you. Both offices offer the same providers, the same services, and the same equipment. Howell is on E Grand River Ave just past M-59. Bloomfield Township is on Woodward Ave near Long Lake Rd, on the second floor of the medical building.
Do you offer home visits or telehealth?
Yes. Dr. Biernacki provides home podiatry visits for homebound patients across Livingston and Oakland counties. Telehealth video visits are available for follow-up care, second opinions, and chronic condition management. Call (810) 206-1402 to schedule.
