Freiberg’s Disease Stages:
There are 5 Freiberg’s Diseases Stages:
- Stage I of Freiberg’s disease or Freiberg’s infarction is only visible on MRI this is a bone contusion underneath the surface.
- Stage II of Freiberg’s disease or Freiberg’s infarction is some destruction to the dorsal or top half of the second metatarsal. This is early arthritis or cartilage loss.
- Stage III of Freiberg’s disease or Freiberg’s infraction is destruction to the top half or the dorsal half of the second metatarsal as well as the plantar half or bottom half of the second metatarsal. This is arthritis or cartilage loss developing.
- Stage IV of Freiberg’s disease or Freiberg’s infraction is complete destruction of the cartilage. This is considered osteoarthritis. As well as collapse of the bone.
- Stage V Freiberg’s disease or Freiberg’s infarction is collapse and cartilage damage of the whole bone with ankylosis or fusion of the joint site.
Freiberg’s Disease Treatment:
